If you haven’t made my Cinnamon Swirl Bread yet you do now know what you are missing! It is seriously delicious! It is so hard not to just eat the whole loaf warm out of the oven, but french toast is one of the few things that can help me exhibit some patience, lol. Seriously though, I really don’t like french toast without this bread anymore.
So it does take a bit of planning (can someone *please* get my 5 year old to understand that!!) making the bread (a full day project in itself) the day before for breakfast the next day, but it is so soo worth it! This I would say is probably my kids favorite breakfast and my 5 year old will beg for it continuously right after I have made it once and does not understand I can’t just whip it up in a few minutes in the kitchen I have to make the bread first and that’s not happening in a matter of minutes! lol
Cinnamon Swirl French Toast
1 loaf Cinnamon Swirl Bread, cut in thick slices (should get about 10-12 thick slices)
1/2 cup Heavy Cream
2 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Cinnamon
Oil for greasing pan
Heat skillet over medium-low heat, grease lightly with oil. Preheat oven to warm setting or lowest temp.
Whisk together eggs, heavy cream, vanilla and cinnamon in shallow dish (honestly my favorite thing in my kitchen to use for this is my pie pan, just works out so perfect for dipping the bread in). Take 1 slice at a time in dip into egg mixture making sure to coat both sides nicely and allow excess to drip off. Place in pan and cook 3-5 minutes on either side until lightly browned. Place on oven safe dish and place in oven to keep warm. Repeat with remaining slices.
Serve warm with your favorite french toast toppings, personally I prefer butter and a light dusting of powder sugar.
