Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk Biscuits

There is just something so good about a simple homemade buttermilk biscuit. This are quick and easy and can be whipped up in the morning even when I’m half asleep…. I think they make a perfect breakfast paired with some apple butter (homemade of course!) and a fresh cup of coffee or tea. They are great with some gravy too, making biscuits and gravy for dinner tonight 🙂 Perfect with some butter to go with dinner. A good buttermilk biscuit is so versatile and should be a recipe you keep in your back pocket 🙂

Buttermilk Biscuits

2 cups Flour
3 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 cup Butter
3/4 cup Buttermilk

Preheat oven to 375

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles course meal. Add buttermilk, stirring until just blended. Knead gently a couple times. Roll dough out on floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with round cookie cutter (or a glass, or anything that would work well for cutting biscuits). Based on a 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter you should get 8-10 biscuits. Place on baking sheet and bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
